INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM
CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA
Engaged in May 2021 to manage the final design, fabrication, installation and operational planning for this $110M+ project over 20 years in the making. Sited on Gadsden’s Wharf, which was the largest slave market in the country, this museum honors the untold stories of the African American journey and the important contributions to our culture. Designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, Moody Nolan, with Ralph Appelbaum Associates and Cortina Productions, it opened June 2024. It welcomed over 200,000 visitors in its first year and won a prestigious THEA award from the Themed Entertainment Association.

— Mary Pat Higgins, President and CEO of the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum
We had the great fortune of engaging Carolynne Harris in the early stages of our project to serve as our Project Manager for the design and installation of our new permanent exhibition, in connection with opening the new Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum. The Museum opens in September 2019, so we are in the home stretch, and I can honestly say that I don’t know what we would have done without Carolynne’s leadership.
We have a small internal team and none of us had been involved with developing a large scale exhibition before. Carolynne’s vast experience with every step of the process has been invaluable. Moreover, her calm, organized, and detail-oriented approach has kept us on track with the schedule and on budget, while maintaining our vision. She helped us engage a top-notch team of professionals and has ensured careful coordination between the exhibition and building design. Most importantly, Carolynne’s commitment to our project has never wavered. She treats our new Museum as if it were her own, and her leadership is a huge part of our success.
